Bottom section

As I've already mentioned, each part of this case had to be modded to the bones, mainly because I was replacing steel with aluminium, acrylic and wood.

The bottom section was designed in a way so that I could illuminate two acrylic bars which I made out of acrylic and vitraux paint. I left some space between the main acrylic piece and the aluminium so the light could pass through there from the two red cold cathodes which I placed underneath. So now the interior and also the exterior of the case had two different lighting effects.

The bottom side was painted black with the top using the main painting technique of blending the metallic red along with the black gloss and also creating a rough surface.

My first thoughts for the case feet was to use a simple wooden dowel rod but then I realized that the feet would be too small compared to the case which was quickly becoming humongous. I had to make them bigger somehow! I attached smaller ones on the main rod using wood glue and I let them dry for 24 hours.

Using my tap and die set I added a screw in the middle in order to attach them on the bottom part. With a rounded sanding drum and my Dremel I sanded any imperfections left and also later I drew two different kinds of designs on each pair so I could emphasize the "uneven" technique and give a unique appearance to each side of the mod .

Everything was ready to be combined so I moved on to the assembly process.
